Is your GE dishwasher not starting up or filling with water after hitting the start button and closing the door? Is the orange light on the front of the machine flashing? This is a common problem and, unfortunately, sometimes a costly repair.
The problem is that the control board isn't sensing that the door is closed. This could be something as simple and inexpensive as a failed door latch or it could be pointing towards an issue with the control board- a much more expensive repair. In our and many other technician's experience with GE dishwashers, one can never just replace the control board for a long-term repair. The user interface board as well as the wire harness connecting the two should also be replaced at the same time. For whatever reason, GE dishwashers will most likely fail again if both boards are not replaced. This cost of the boards plus the service call charge and labor is usually around $400, sometimes more depending on how hard it is to pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet. As much as we love to fix appliances and keep them out of landfills, we typically do not recommend to go through with this repair, as one can buy a new dishwasher for that amount. If you would like us to come out and diagnose the issue (hopefully it's just the door latch!), give us a call at 603-831-2658 or, if you're in our service area, book online on our homepage.
